Diversified Manual Adjusting Techniques
When the malposition of one or more spinal bones is identified, a specific manual thrust is administered. The direction, speed, depth and angle that are used is the result of years of experience, practice and a thorough understanding of spinal mechanics.
Soft Tissue Massage
As the body is a series of interconnected parts- bones, nerves, muscles and connective tissue- in order to treat a specific ailment it is often necessary to treat the muscle around the issue as well as the bones, as muscle tightness often is the root cause of the issue. Soft tissue massage works on releasing tightened muscles which in turn allows the bones to realign.
Activator Techniques
The Activator Methods® Adjusting Instrument is a handheld spring-loaded tool that delivers a consistent low-force, high-speed thrust. Because it’s many times faster than adjustments delivered by hand, the body rarely tightens to resist, making adjustments comfortable and effective. It’s also helpful for adjusting elbows, wrists, knees and other joints of the body.
Dry Needling
Dry needling is the treatment of muscular pain and myofascial dysfunction due to restrictions or blockages within the muscle fibres. Dry needling is effective at treating overactive muscles containing trigger points and was developed by Dr. Chan Gunn. Thin needles are inserted into the trigger point in the muscle fibre in order to promote blood flow, encourage the muscle to release the blockage & support the body’s ability to self-heal.
Kinesiotaping
This is a rehabilitative taping technique that facilitates the body’s own healing process while providing support and stability to muscles and joints without restricting the body’s range of motion. In supporting the body- it also extends the benefits of soft tissue manipulation administered by a therapist within the clinical setting.
